Hello Friend!
I am here today with a series of musings in different directions. I hope you enjoy.
Weather
Wow, that storm was something. Here in Chicago, it was a big cold rain. I felt very silly for not wearing my raincoat when I went out yesterday. But it is hard to figure out the right way to layer under the raincoat for nearly freezing rain. I was underprepared for the weather and by the time I got home, I was very damp and a little chilly. Nothing a little turmeric and ginger tea couldn’t immediately fix.
The storm was much worse pretty much everywhere else. It was all ice where my family lives so everything (except healthcare jobs- go Zoe!) was canceled yesterday. My family’s house lost power overnight for several hours. My parents prepared for this, stocking wood for the fireplace, gathering flashlights, and filling reserves of water. My dad really gets into this kind of thing. My mom joked that he was preparing for Armageddon.
But I wished I was at home, breaking into my stock of extra candles. I wanted to come up with ways to prepare. I talked last week about my love for preparation. I am no doomsday prepper, but I do think it’s good to be prepared for natural disasters. Especially in this day and age. I’ve been watching The Last of Us and thinking about apocalypses a lot. I think my interest stems from how exciting it would be to reshape the world from a wiped slate. I just like the idea of disrupting this world and coming up with ways it could be better.
